Chelmsford 10K - report

27 Nov 2021

Chelmsford AC's own 10k race, from Melbourne Park saw local athletes taking the major honours - with the majority of these coming from the Springfield Striders athletes, as they turned out in force.   The Men's category was won by their Scott Cousins, whilst Liz Davies took the Women's class.

Of our own members, David Fewell, in 5th place, had the satisfaction of being the first veteran home.  Others in the green and gold were Ben Felton - 6th, juniors Will Nuttall (23rd) and Joseph Perry (26th),  Joe Abbott (33rd), Will Parrott (50th), and Peter Waite (67th).  Nick Hunter, having contested both the Boston and London marathons in recent months, here placed 74th.  Stalwart Peter Tullett, in 78th position, proved to be first veteran in the over 60's class, coming through 78th of the 361 finishers.

We lacked numbers in the Women's race, although youngsters Katie Brazier (13th) and Erin Brocklehurst (38th) acquitted themselves well.

The team event was also claimed by Springfield, with 30 points, but this was a close affair, with Havering on 33 points, and Chelmsford on 34.
