Fifteen of Chelmsford AC’s Junior athletes travelled to
Ashford last weekend, to compete in the South of England AA U13 / U15 / U17
The top performance amongst the fifteen was from Johnson Alo
(pictured), who won Gold in the U17M Long Jump – beating his nearest rival by
over half a metre, with a jump of 6.56m – just 5cm short of his recent PB!
Our other medal winner was Lola Kuponiyi, who took Silver in
the U17W Shot.
Joshua Ogunfolaju was just outside of the medals, with
fourth place in the U17M Triple Jump, but with the consolation of setting a new
Club Record for the third time this year, with a jump of 13.73m.
Sam Tremelling was also missed a medal by one place, with
fourth place in the U17M Pole Vault – a position matched by Onyeka Okoh in the
U15B High Jump, where he set a PB of 1.70m – and Kissiwaa Mensah in the U15G
Freya Coley (U13G 200m), Nneka Okoh (U15G 300m), and Amelia
King (U13G 800m) all reached the Final round of their events.
Also in action were Grace Tremelling (U15G 100m, Long Jump),
Angel Wright (U13G 100m, Long Jump), Etienne King (U13G 200m, 800m), Darcy
Sullivan (U17M 200m), Mia Bowring (U13G 800m, High Jump) and Holly Watson (U15G
All athletes found the very windy conditions – especially a
strong head-head in the home straight – a real challenge.
Well done to all who competed in the Green and Gold!
