Club Treasurer

We are still in serious need of a Club Treasurer.  If you feel you have the skills required, please contact the Chairman - John Weir - on a club night.

We are also looking for:

Club Liaison (Junior Leagues)

To act as club contact for:

  • AGM of each league
  • Renewal of membership of each league, and advising the Club to pay the affiliation fee
  • Changes in league rules for competition and timetable of events.
  • Advising clubs of fixture dates for the following year, clubs letters/numbers in the leagues and the events that each club has to provide officials for.
  • Issuing details to clubs hosting league on their responsibilities on fixture days.
  • Receiving results from the League Secretary, after each fixture and circulate by email to team managers to verify accuracy before results are filed with Power of 10.

It is essential that parents volunteer to assist with judging duties at the EYAL/YDL matches - especially in field events.  The Club has no Timekeepers for these meetings, and may have a Track Judge at only a few of the events.

If any parents wish to become a qualified judge for the future, please speak with either John Weir or Steve Mitchell to add your name to the list of attendees for the next available course.  A Level 2 Officials course is planned to be held at Chelmsford on 30th March - see enrolment details on the England Athletics website.  Course fees will be paid by the Club.

The Club needs to recruit new Officials in any capacity - marksman, track, field, or timekeepers.

Clubhouse Development

The Committee is considering a make-over of the clubhouse to provide a better use of the space taken up by the present changing facilities, and to offer use to other users as well as Club members.  Plans have been drawn up to provide new toilets, a disabled toilet facility, a treatment room, and a conference room.  Please see the plans displayed in the clubhouse.  This work, and further work (including the Weights area flooring, folding doors to close off the Weights area, provision of an overhead projector, and better seating) are all dependent on obtaining some Grant funding from England Athletics.

Members will be kept informed as the project unfolds.
