Will takes the honours at Essex Schools Cross Country Championships

29 Jan 2023

The Essex Schools Cross Country Championships provided CAC with only one individual winner, but there were also fine performances from other members at the Writtle venue.

It was from the Senior Boys that Will Steadman took the major honours, breaking the tape in a tight finish. Joe Perry 5th and Tom Wood 7th may also look forward to representing the county at the All England event on 18th March in Nottingham.  Jacob Alexander also in this race placed 14th.

It was the Junior Girls, early in the day, that drew most attention for the Mid Essex team, with seven in the top eight finishers. Winner was Olivia Forrest of Brentwood, who had the edge over our Ezrah Harrold (running in the colours of the Castle Point district). Daisy Stollery completed the medallists, just heading Hetty Harrison and Bethan Davies.

Other events saw Lucy Nuttall and Jemimah Knightbridge placing 7th and 8th in the Intermediate Girls age group, whilst at Senior Girls level Holly Watson came through in 4th, with Kiera Atkinson 7th, Larna Morgan 8th and Sophie Cottam 11th.

For the Junior Boys Austin Kelly placed 8th with Jacob Parrott 10th, Josh Eido 11th and Zac Thomas 14th.  In the Intermediate Boys age group Archie Durham was 4th, Greg Martin 6th and William Sweeney 24th.
