It's "get your passport ready" time for Onyeka Okoh. In the trials for the U20 Great Britain team, staged at Bedford last weekend, Onyeka won the 400mH event and achieved the qualifying time with his 51.29 seconds in the heats (another new Club Record), before going on to win the final. This performance gained his selection for the team for the G.B. team competing at the World Junior Championships in Cali, Columbia 1st -7th August. Still only 17, Onyeka, coached by Jade Harding at the Melbourne Park Stadium, will be one of the youngest members of the team.
Although not quite achieving the success of Onyeka there were also notable performance at Bedford by Lily Parris in the 100mH, with a season's best of 13.87s for second place - a position also gained by Jess Hopkins in the Shot Putt.
