Two club members competed in the British Masters Cross Country Championships at Tonbridge on 12th March - and there was a great performance from Rebecca Luxton as she just missed out on a podium place, being 4th in the W35 class. Peter Tullett, racing in the M60 class, was placed 7th.
Another athlete coming close to a medal recently was Sam Wright. Contesting the U17M Heptathlon event at the England Athletics U15/U17 Combined Events Indoor Championships, Sam finished in fourth place, with a score of 4252 points. His individual event results were - 80m 7.40 secs, Long Jump 6.33m, Shot Putt 11.08m, High Jump 1.89m, Pole Vault 2.13m, and 1000m 3:01.29.
In the U17W Pentathlon at the same championships, Rosie Townley, with 2521 points, was placed 18th (80mH 9.43, High Jump 1.38m, Shot 9.97m, Long Jump 4.91m and 800m 2:42.34).
At U15G level, Milana Thorpe took 12th place of the 36 entries, with 2631 points (60mH 9.90, High Jump 1.38m, Shot 7.87m, Long Jump 4.64m and 800m 2:41.70).
At the Junior championships staged at Sheffield earlier in the year, Oliver Early placed 9th with 4488 points ( 60m 7.60, Long Jump 6.27m, Shot 9.58m, High Jump 1.91m, 60mH 8.82, Pole Vault 3.83 and 1000m 3:04.33.
