Three of Chelmsford’s Juniors were in competition for Essex teams at the English Schools Combined Events Championship at Bedford over the weekend. Oliver Early was a member of the Senior Boys team that won their category, Rosie Townley was part of the Intermediate Girls team that finished in sixth place – and Sam Wright was the individual winner of the Junior Boys event, in which Essex were placed second.
Sam Wright (pictured) scored a new club record (3269 points) for the Junior Boys Pentathlon, winning three events, and coming second in the other two. He also broke the club record for U15 Boys High Jump, with a clearance of 1.92m. In an outstanding season, Sam has also set a new club record in the U15B 80m Hurdles, with a time of 11.05 in August.
Oliver Early’s best moment over the weekend was in recording a new PB in the High Jump, with 1.92m.
