Several of the club’s best Junior athletes made the trip to Sheffield at the weekend, to challenge themselves against the best in the UK, at the England Athletics Indoor Age Group (U20, U17 & U15) Championships.
Maegan Hopkins was our sole medallist – taking SILVER in the U15G Shot, with a new PB performance. Older sister Jess was agonisingly outside of the medals, with fourth place in the U20 event in the same discipline.
Lily Parris put in some excellent performances in the U20W 60mH, progressing through to the Final, where she finished in fifth place. Leah Duncan was also in good form – also making it through to the Final of her 60m event, whilst finishing in third place in the Semi of the 200m. These were outstanding results, given that both are in their first year in the U20 age group.
Darcy Sullivan also recorded third place in a 200m Semi – in the U17M age group – and was unlucky to not make it through to the Final.
Oliver Early won his Heat of the U17M 60mH, before bowing out of the competition with a fifth place at the Semi-Final stage. Adam Reid finished in a creditable fifth place in his U20M 400m Heat.
In the Field, Seb Clatworthy was unfortunately somewhat below his recent excellent form, finishing in tenth place in the U20M High Jump, while U17 Johnson Alo competed extremely well with sixth in the Long Jump and eighth in the Triple Jump.
