Track & Field officiating in 2020 - Chelmsford AC needs your help more than ever!

30 Dec 2019

With 2020 soon upon us, we’re already looking forward to what promises to be a very busy and exciting Track & Field season in the coming year.  We’ll be competing in the Southern Athletics League, the Eastern Young Athletes League – and, of course, the new National Athletics League.  We will be hosting TWO home matches in the SAL, TWO in the EYAL – and also have a home fixture in the NAL.

None of these matches – either home OR away, can take place without a full complement of officials, of course.  As usual we’re putting out our early appeal for more people to step forward and volunteer to help with the officiating.  It really isn’t difficult – you’ll usually be working alongside other people from the club who will guide you, it’s much more fun than sitting on the side-lines, the more people who join in, the lighter the load for everyone – AND you’ll get free lunch and refreshments through the day!  Importantly, in many matches the team’s score is affected by the number of officials the club fields, so you might be the difference between winning and losing, in a tight match!

To get involved, all you have to do is to attend a one-day training course in the discipline of your choice – Field, Track, or Timekeeping – and we have a series of courses coming up at our own home venue at the Chelmsford Sports and Athletics Centre, so it couldn’t be easier.  The club will reimburse you for the fees.

The 2020 courses at Chelmsford all take place on Sunday 8th March, as follows:

Course Code

Level 1 Field

Level 1 Track

Level 1 Timekeeping
