A number of Chelmsford AC athletes were part of the Essex team which competed in the Southern U17 Intercounties match at Melbourne Park yesterday – and played a major part in seeing Essex lift both the Men’s and Women’s trophies.
In the Men’s events, Oliver Early took an impressive win in the 100m Hurdles (A), whilst also recording fourth place in the B string Pole Vault. Darcy Sullivan claimed first place in the 100m B race, before stepping up to run in the 400m B race and collecting maximum points again. Darcy also played a major part in the Essex team’s relays.
Nathan Bushnell was second in the Discus (A) and third in the Shot (A) – while Seb Clatworthy also secured a second place finish, in the High Jump.
Joshua Ogunfolaju took third place in the Triple Jump (A), and Sam Tremelling returned to action after injury, with fourth place in the Pole Vault (A).
In the Women’s team, Emma Rattle produced a fine sequence of jumps to take victory in the High Jump (A). Lily Parris was also an A string winner – in the 300m Hurdles – and followed up with third place in the 80m Hurdles.
Hannah Bolton took fifth place in the 800m A race, with Georgia Tombs recording second place in the B race. Ella Chantree took third place in the B string Discus, and fourth place in the B string Shot.
Congratulations on the Essex Men’s team victory are also due to Team Managers Jenny Clatworthy and Sarah Tremelling!
