There were a number of successes for Chelmsford AC athletes on a busy two days of Cross Country and Road racing last weekend.
Most notable amongst these were Rebecca Luxton and Mick Bridgeland, who both made the long trip to Swansea to compete for England in the British & Irish Masters Cross Country Championships. Their journeys certainly paid off, as both featured in victorious English teams. Rebecca (pictured, with her team-mates) finished 11th in the Women’s W35 race – while Mick was 6th in the Men’s M60 event.
Congratulations to both Rebecca and Mick for their international successes!
Elsewhere, the Eastern Counties Cross Country Championships were taking place at Ipswich – and Will Steadman continued a fantastic year by winning the U13 Boys race – by over 30 seconds!
Sunday, of course, saw the road runners assemble in Chelmsford for the Chelmsford AC 10K. Harry Tullett crossed the finish line in 7th place overall, as the first U20 – while Zach Bridgeland’s 18th place made him the first home in the U17 age group. Wendy King was the first W45 runner to finish, in 67th place overall, and 7th female. Other Chelmsford AC athletes finished as follows:
· Joseph Lane (U20) – 32nd
· Scott Thomas (U17) – 52nd
· Hayley Pegg (SW) – 121st
· Kevin Kirby (V55) – 181st
